The fact that the seat in New York’s 3rd Congressional District was scandal-tainted by Santos means the GOP had an extra burden to motivate their voters. Republicans, meanwhile, tend to show up more on Election Day, and Nassau County Republicans have an unusually good turnout machine. Not only did Suozzi win the election, but he was winning in the Nassau County part of the district by 6 percentage points with 93% of the vote in. That margin would mark a massive shift from 2022, when Santos won the county by 10 percentage points over Democratic foe Robert Zimmerman.

The special election in New York’s 3rd Congressional District to succeed the infamous George Santos offers perhaps the best chance to test Democrats’ theory ahead of the presidential election. The candidate favored by Democrats won a Wisconsin Supreme Court race, which gave the more liberal justices a majority on that court. Of course, we’re now in a presidential election year, and there are also signs that these off-year results may have been pointing at something important. All the other competitive races were state elections, and voting patterns between US House and presidential elections are far more correlated than they are for state offices and presidential elections. Kimberly Gotti, 55, and her daughter Gianna Gotti, 25, are accused of assaulting the woman after she asked them to stop cursing at players from the bleachers. John and Kimberly Gotti's son Joseph was on the court playing for Oyster Bay High School against rival Locust Valley High School on Thursday night. The Gottis, who were each charged Friday morning with third-degree assault, disputed the woman's account. John Gotti Jr. told reporters on Thursday the woman assaulted his wife first.
